10 Things That Disappointingly Won’t Be at E3 2015

10 Things That Disappointingly Won’t Be at E3 2015

E3 is coming up in a few short weeks, which means the hype train is at full steam. Unfortunately, hype only takes us so far, especially when it comes to some of our most anticipated titles that for some reason simply won’t be at E3 at all! Why? Who knows. But here are some of the things we won’t be seeing on the E3 show floor this year.

Persona 5

Persona 5

Despite massive hype for this next-gen JRPG, Atlus hasn’t announced anything regarding it showing up at E3. They have certainly spent more than enough time hyping games such as Persona 4: Dancing All Night , though. Of course, this could change as we get closer to the convention, and we are always hoping that Atlus has something up their sleeve, but for now it appears as if Persona 5 is going to be staying home.

Anything from Valve

Anything from Valve

Valve hasn’t shown up at E3 for a very long time. Sometimes they have an announcement that they run at the same time as the show, but at this point they barely ever participate, which is odd considering they are a PC gaming giant. Unless they make a showing at the PC Gaming Keynote this year, we likely won’t see anything from them.

Tekken X Street Fighter

Tekken X Street Fighter

Street Fighter X Tekken came out a while ago, and it flopped. But Katsuhiro Harada has repeatedly said that Tekken X Street Fighter is definitely still going to happen, just after he is done making Tekken 7 . Unfortunately, even Tekken 7 looks like it will likely not be at E3 this year, so Tekken X Street Fighter is right out.

God of War

God of War

Sony has said time and again that their latest entry in the God of War franchise is barely in the pre-planning stage. We haven’t seen a trailer yet, and we certainly won’t see a demo. I’m sure that Sony might tease us a bit with some unofficial gameplay footage of Kratos’s new adventure at their press conference, but even that seems like a long shot. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kratos stays in the underworld for this one.

Nintendo Mobile Games

Nintendo Mobile Games

Nintendo has already confirmed that they will not be talking about their new mobile games at E3 this year. They said the conference is more focused on consoles and handhelds and thus mobile games don’t really have a place there. But Nintendo’s mobile push is one of the biggest events in the gaming industry, and many are saying they could be a mobile juggernaut. However, we haven’t been able to see any of these games in action, so for now we don’t know if they are the speculated juggernaut or just another flash in the mobile pan.

The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh I’m sorry I just- HAHAHAHHAHAHA! Oh god, I can’t believe we are still waiting to see more information on this game. This is our new Duke Nukem Forever . Sony swears, absolutely swears, that they are still working on this title. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see this game finally come to fruition, but I entirely doubt that Sony has anything prepared to show us at E3 this year. Keep hoping everyone. Keep hoping. That griffon will die someday… someday.

The Legend of Zelda U

The Legend of Zelda U

Another thing that Nintendo has confirmed won’t be at E3 this year is its new Legend of Zelda title. Yes, we still only have the trailer from last year and the vague allusion to the game being “open world” to go on. It’s a shame considering this is probably Nintendo’s next big killer app. They are still riding high off the popularity of Smash Bros, and that will keep them going for quite a long time. But that buzz will die down eventually, so I personally think holding off on showing us more Zelda is a big mistake.

Sega

Sega

Sega is pretty much in shambles, along with Konami and a lot of other Japanese developers. Their latest big name title, Sonic Boom , was a total flop, and they have absolutely no killer app to show us this year. That doesn’t mean we don’t want to see Sega at the show, however. I mean, it would be great if we saw another Valkyria Chronicles , Virtua Fighter , or any of Sega’s other properties that aren’t Sonic The Hedgehog . Oh well, I guess we will have to be OK with Sega’s cameo in Project X Zone 2 .

Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV is a title that all Square-Enix fans are waiting on the edge of their seat for. After they beat the dead horse of Final Fantasy XIII to the ground, and then swore they would get back to their roots, and THEN released Bravely Default – one of the best Final Fantasy style RPGs we have seen in a while, we all want to see whether or not XV is going to be a gimmicky piece of trash, or the next-gen Japanese role playing game that allows the genre to survive. Unfortunately, Square-Enix is making Final Fantasy XV skip E3 and instead show itself at Gamescom. Oh well, at least we have Kingdom Hearts 3 to look forward to.

The NX

The NX

Nintendo’s new console is not going to be a replacement console at all. Rather, it will be some mysterious thing that will connect all their consoles past and present. What does that mean? No one knows! What we do know is we aren’t going to get any more info out of the big N this E3. Man, no Zelda , no mobile games, and no NX? What is Nintendo showing off?

Oh… Mario Maker ? OK, that’s pretty cool.
