Top 10 Skulls Every Halo 5 Gamer Will Crave

Top 10 Skulls Every Halo 5 Gamer Will Crave

Master Chief is ready to make his official next-gen debut and we couldn’t possibly be more stoked about his arrival in Halo 5: Guardians from developer 343 Industries. Halo: The Master Chief Collection was a nice little teaser for Xbox One fans looking to reengage their favorite video game hero from the early 2000’s. Soon, fans will finally have the opportunity to pick up from where they left off in 2007, with a few more goodies this time around. Master Chief’s latest installment will reintroduce the classic list of skulls (items that can be used to alter gameplay) found in previous versions – however, this time gamers must find the hidden collectibles themselves as they did in Halo 3 . To commemorate the reintroduction of this epic journey, we’ve decided to put together a list of the top ten skulls every Halo gamer will want.

#10: Iron- Cannot revive or be revived

#10: Iron- Cannot revive or be revived

The Iron skull prevents players and their teammates from being revived during the heat of battle. This forces players to ride the wave of death without have the ability to respawn. This skull absolutely sucks if you’re playing co-op since you could be stuck in observation mode if you can’t hold your own against the horde of enemies. The upside to Iron is that it’s really going to test your will and make you a better player in the end.

#9: Blind – HUD and first-person arms/weapon hidden

#9: Blind – HUD and first-person arms/weapon hidden

This skull is intriguing because I love the ability to customize the gameplay for a much more difficult experience. Players will now be transported back to the days of no HUD and no idea of how much fricking ammo they’ve got left, let alone which gun they’re toting. Let’s hope the battle rifle comes stocked with a magazine counter or I might just be hacking and slashing fools like my pants are on fire.

#8: Famine – Weapons drop less ammo

#8: Famine – Weapons drop less ammo

The name of the game is conservation. Famine will force players to conserve their ammo for when it really counts. If you’re the type of player that loves to spray and pray, your chances of survival are severely limited. If you do decide to activate Famine and can’t help yourself from spraying a mural of death into your opponents, there’s always the trusty melee!

#7: Thunderstorm – Enemy abilities upgraded

#7: Thunderstorm – Enemy abilities upgraded

Thunderstorm could definitely make its way higher up on the list simply because of its awesomeness. Then again, it’s really going to drive some players mad when activated. Flip this bad boy on and the AI of your enemies will increase a substantially as if they just drank from the fountain of knowledge. A nice collection of ancient scrimshaw would be a fitting compliment to Thunderstorm.

#6: Catch – Enemies are grenade happy

#6: Catch – Enemies are grenade happy

Catch is the one skull that absolutely boils my blood, and that’s why I love it so much. Dodging grenade-happy enemies is both fun and exhilarating, of course, until your legs get blown off. The other reason I love this skull is that players can actually use this to their advantage by strategically maneuvering around the map in order for enemies to “accidentally” stick their fellow comrades with a grenade. The result, more running, jumping, and friendly-fire destruction from your opponents.

#5: Black Eye – Shields do not recharge until you melee enemies

#5: Black Eye – Shields do not recharge until you melee enemies

My sick and twisted sense of humor is definitely going to surface when Black Eye is activated. I really love the idea of this skull because it forces players to beat the tar out of the opposition, which ensures their continued survival, while also gaining a small reward as a result. Who doesn’t look to rack up as many melees as they can in one sitting? Either that or I’m just one twisted dude when I play first-person shooters.

#4: Mythic – Increased enemy health

#4: Mythic – Increased enemy health

Mythic is going to fall somewhere between “I love this” and “I can’t stop myself from throwing this game across the room.” This particular skull is going to provide some nice replay value after a few passes through the game. Activating Mythic is going to challenge players both physically and mentally, especially when those stupid little grunts become much more powerful and start taking you down. Happy surviving, friends!

#3: IWHBYD – Rare combat dialog becomes more common

#3: IWHBYD – Rare combat dialog becomes more common

I’ve always been a sucker for hilarious dialogue within video games, especially when it comes during a fire fight. For whatever reason, my nostalgia kicks in and I’m always reminded of the famous lobby scene from the Matrix trilogy when Neo and Trinity lay waste to the horde of guards- their nonverbal communication is both epic and slightly humors, considering the situation they’re in. IWHBYD will provide some much-needed laughter for anxiety-ridden players.

#2: Fog – Motion sensor is disabled

#2: Fog – Motion sensor is disabled

The Fog skull is not for the faint of heart and brings a real challenge to those hardcore gamers. Activate this annoyingly awesome skull and the motion sensor on your main hub completely disappears. You will need to rely on your senses if you plan on surviving with Fog running in the background. Be prepared for inevitable death that will most certainly come from behind.

#1: Grunt Birthday Party – Head shot a grunt for a surprise

#1: Grunt Birthday Party – Head shot a grunt for a surprise

Grunt Birthday Party is without a doubt the best skull found within Halo 5: Guardians . For those of you who’ve played Halo 3, you know exactly what I’m taking about. For those of you that haven’t, please emerge from your cave and give the classic game from ‘07 a go before diving into the new addition. A few bullets into the heads of those annoying grunts will emit a celebration of confetti and glitter for your much needed enjoyment. If only everything bad in life could have such a happy spin.
