7 League of Legends Secrets Fans Should Know

7 League of Legends Secrets Fans Should Know

People who don’t know League of Legends often underestimate it. They hear news about the MOBA or hear talk about the competitions, understand there are different characters, but don’t really get how much work Riot Games really puts into them. These are each unique individuals with lore surrounding them.

What makes these League of Legends characters even more special is how some have special interactions tied to them. These are hidden away and only trigger under certain circumstances, perhaps even if specific characters appear in a match. It’s incredibly intriguing and knowing they’re there enhances the game for beginners and veterans alike.

Too many ninjas

Too many ninjas

Ninjas are great, right? Except when there are too many. League of Legends isn’t like Naruto , after all. There was an Inverse Ninja Strength law where champions that were considered ninja would actually be less powerful if they were all on the same team at once. People would lose 1 health for each additional ninja, with Akali, Kennen, Shen, and Zed all counting toward the ninja total.

Yetis have souls

Yetis have souls

Occasionally, League of Legends will have characters that are something of a two-for. Nunu is a good example, as he’s riding a yeti named Willump. They still count as one entity, but Riot really got into the details with this pair. If Thresh, a champion that collects the souls of defeated enemies that fall nearby him, is by Nunu and Willump when they die, he’ll get two souls instead of one.

Fish food

Fish food

Fizz is a fish who sends other fish after any of its enemies. With one attack, Chum the Waters, he tosses a fish onto another champion to lure a shark to attack it. If this attack kills a small hero or heroine, specifically Annie, Amumu, Fizz, Kennen, Lulu, Poppy, Tristana, Veigar, or Ziggs, then there’ll be no corpse left behind. Fizz’s “friends” will finish them off.

Dance with a popstar

Ahri is one of the most iconic League of Legends champions, and one people are most likely to recognize. She’s the woman who’s half fox. One of her skins transforms her into Popstar Ahri. If this version of her dances near a Blue Sentinel during a match, it will dance along with her.

Don’t forget your sunglasses

Don’t forget your sunglasses

One champion named Leona has a power called Sunlight, which is fitting as her nickname is “The Radiant Dawn.” This damages opponents, but doesn’t do as much harm to them if they’re wearing sunglasses. If you see Leona on the other team, make sure your character is wearing a Commando skin or any other outfit that includes sunglasses, so they’ll take one less damage from the attack.

Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies references are everywhere, so of course there’s one in League of Legends too. This one kicks in if Zyra, the plant lady, is on a team facing undead champions like Karthus or Sion. If Zyra kills one of them, she gets 2 extra gold for each fall. If either Karthus or Sion kill a Zyra, they would get 2 extra gold. Way to encourage that rivalry!

Jinx versus the police

Jinx versus the police

League of Legends ‘ Jinx is a criminal. She’s chaotic and loves to cause trouble. So naturally, if she’s on one team and Caitlyn and/or Vi is on the other, the cops and Jinx all get special, hidden buffs. Caitlyn and Vi see a message that says, “Jinx is causing chaos again. How obnoxious… Criminals apprehended.” and get 1 extra gold every time they catch a criminal. Jinx players, on the other hand, see a message that says, “Cait and Vi are chasing you. How fun! Cops outsmarted.” and gets 1 additional gold every time she beats either character.

There are only a few of the many special interactions and actions someone might find when playing League of Legends with certain characters. Who knows what others you may see?
