Top 5 Weapons of Epic Gaming Destruction!

Top 5 Weapons of Epic Gaming Destruction!

The 2015 holiday season is in full swing and will once again feature a number of big name titles with gun-toting characters. Halo 5 , Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 , Fallout 4 , and Star Wars Battlefront are at the forefront of 2015’s fourth quarter. It’s no secret that these games wouldn’t have a leg to stand on without the meticulously crafted weaponry featured within each title. This got us to thinking about the top five most powerful weapons ever featured in video games. Enjoy!

Gravity Gun – Half-Life 2

Gravity Gun – Half-Life 2

The Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2 was a genius idea – providing players with the ability to pick up objects and hurl them at enemies was unique during its inception. The weapon provided players with an entirely new way to experience killing enemies. Scooping up saw blades and firing them at aliens was an awesome way to cut down hordes of enemies and even made for a few laughs along the way.

Covenant Energy Sword – Halo Series

Covenant Energy Sword – Halo Series

The Covenant Energy Sword made its first appearance in Halo 2 and soon became an instant wrecking force within the flagship franchise, piling up bodies on its path of destruction. The weapon caused a lot of controversy during its early days – it either struck fear into players that came up against it or energized them with the prospect of laying waste to the entire enemy squad with a few quick blows. The Sword is without a doubt the best melee weapon to ever grace the gaming platform.

Slayer – Perfect Dark (N64)

Slayer – Perfect Dark (N64)

The Slayer is a devastating rocket launcher used by the Skedar forces found in Perfect Dark for the N64. The primary function wasn’t what made the weapon so useful back in the N64 days. Rather, it was the secondary fly-by-wire mode that made it nearly impossible to counteract. Players were able to fire a rocket and take complete control of where it was directed using the N64 control stick. Campers were no match for the Slayer back in Perfect Dark ’s multiplayer days.

Proximity Mines – Goldeneye 007 (N64)

Proximity Mines – Goldeneye 007 (N64)

Another Nintendo 64 classic lands among our top list in Goldeneye 007 ’s Proximity Mines. There was nothing better than hearing the whoosh of tossing these bad boys on walls, railings, and just about anywhere enemy players might traverse. This particular weapon was both loved and hated by multiplayer gamers, and rightfully so.

The Hammer – Super Smash Bros. Series

The Hammer – Super Smash Bros. Series

Our top spot for most devastating weapon of all-time goes to the Hammer from the Super Smash Bros. series. Destructive power is instantly granted to any player wielding the Hammer while everyone else frantically dashes for safety. A few hits from Thor’s likeness and players either take heavy damage or are flung far off the fighting platform, destined for death.

Honorable Mentions : BFG9000 ( Doom ), Spread Gun ( Contra ), Gauss Rifle ( Fallout 3 ), ‘Merica Weapon ( Saints Row IV )
