7 Games to Play With Family This Thanksgiving

The holidays are here! While you might be spending Black Friday shopping with family and friends, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday are days to kick back and enjoy being around the people you love. Build some bonds with games. A lot of great ones were released this year. Gather around for some local multiplayer antics that everyone you know can enjoy.

Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege

Do you know what’s happening this weekend? It’s Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer open beta! It starts November 25 and runs until November 29. The full game launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on December 1, so make sure you keep some time open over the long weekend to try out the game. Maybe even call up some friends and test it out together!

Guitar Hero Live

Guitar Hero Live

Guitar Hero Live is rather limiting, since only two people can play together at once, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with it this Thanksgiving. After all, there is such a thing as taking turns. The wealth and variety of tracks will help you bond and appreciate both each other and the music.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

Know what Nintendo 3DS game is great if you have people in the same room to play with you? The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes . It supports download play, so only one person needs to own the game. Three people can enjoy dungeon crawling together. It’s easy to jump into, one round usually only lasts about 15 minutes, and you get to wear silly costumes.

Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival

Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival

Holidays are often spent with family, and that means people who may not be as familiar with video games. Maybe it’s because they’re younger than you, or it could be due to belonging to a generation or social group that doesn’t have the opportunity to regularly enjoy them. Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival is perfect for them. It’s a game that isn’t at all demanding, encourages cooperation, and only wants you to enjoy a good time with family and friends. You can even gather food for a “Harvest Festival” if you choose to make November the “month” you play in-game.

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker isn’t a multiplayer game, but it certainly can be the life of any party. The fun here comes from taking turns. Create your own levels for family and friends, then play levels they’ve made for you in return. What my friends and I enjoy doing is heading online to Course World, choosing the 100 Mario Challenge, then passing the Wii U Gamepad around as each person plays one level.

Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros.

There’s always time to settle it in Smash . Like many Nintendo multiplayer games, Super Smash Bros . excels at allowing players of any skill level to compete on equal footing. Easy controls, iconic characters, various team modes, and the ability to have eight players enjoying the game at once locally make it perfect for large groups to enjoy. Show how thankful you are for your friends and family by beating everyone up.

Rock Band 4

Rock Band 4

We’re getting the band back together! Rock Band 4 is the best game you can play with family and friends this Thanksgiving. It has a widely diverse tracklist, so people from every generation will be able to find a song they know and maybe even love. There are multiple difficulty levels, so even someone who’s never used a guitar controller or tapped a beat out on the drums can play. If all else fails, plug in two mics and use it for karaoke. It’s the best way to bond with people you love.
