Top 10 Reasons Fanboys Will Love Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Top 10 Reasons Fanboys Will Love Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: Episode 7- The Force Awakens is just a few days from release and the madness has officially begun. People have already started lining up for the film outside of Hollywood’s famous Chinese Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Either Star Wars fans are totally out of their minds or they’re just stoked to finally see their favorite series brought back to life again. Either way, we’re on board with the chaos and would like to add fuel to the fire with our Top Ten Reasons We’re Stoked for Star Wars: Episode 7 -The Force Awakens . May the force be with you, friends.

Costumes

Costumes

Star Wars has been known for it’s elaborate costume designs since the original film debuted back in 1977. With a new cast of characters, an entirely new plot structure, and a wealth of resources at the production team’s disposal, The Force Awakens won’t be any different in terms of costume offerings.

Crafted in the Modern Age

Crafted in the Modern Age

I’ve always wondered what the original Star Wars trilogy would have looked like if it were constructed with today’s cinematic and robotic technology. Just imagine the battle scenes if a little modern technology was applied – mind blowing! Yes, the prequel trilogy was done with modern visual technologies, but I think filmmakers were only scratching the surface during the early 2000’s. Let’s hope that new innovations add to excitement of Star Wars on December 18.

Lawrence Kasdan

Lawrence Kasdan

I’ll have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about Star Wars making its reemergence in 2015. However, after learning that Lawrence Kasdan was a major part of The Force Awakens ’ writing team, I was all on board. Kasdan’s most notable credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark and two largely successful early 80’s films called The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi . I think it’s safe to say Kasdan brings a unique element back to the Star Wars production table.

John Boyega as Finn

John Boyega as Finn

I’m officially on the John Boyega bandwagon after reviewing some of his past film credits and pouring over the trailers for weeks – I think this is the guy the Star Wars brand needs to move the series forward. My biggest concern centered on filling the lead role with an individual that could truly capture the essence of the Star Wars majesty and not just another familiar face plugged in. I think Boyega might be that young face to make this movie another Star Wars gem.

Han Solo and His Trusty Pal Chewbacca

Han Solo and His Trusty Pal Chewbacca

If you’re a total nerd like myself, then you’ve probably been strategically watching the previous Star Wars episodes in advance of The Force Awakens . If not, then you should get on it asap or be forever lost on December 18th. Anyway, Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Peter Mayhew as Chewie were a major reason why the original films were largely successful. The dynamic duo added a light-hearted kick that fans certainly needed along the way. Besides, a post-trilogy Star Wars film wouldn’t be complete without Han and his iconic co-pilot.

New Characters

New Characters

The Star Wars film have been largely successful over the years because of it’s cast of great characters- Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan, C-3PO, Yoda, and many more. Let’s be honest, the plotlines were never the strongest nor were they the reason people repeatedly watched the films. Rather, fans became fans because of the characters and the epic dialogue that came along with them. The great news moving forward is we’ll have an entirely new set of characters to fall in love with.

Closure

Closure

After more than 30 years, fans will finally get to see what happened after the Dark Side was sort of defeated. I know for me personally, I’ve always wondered what happened to the remaining forces that were not aboard the Death Star. Although it doesn’t look like Episode 7 will reveal all of it, it’s nice to see the story progress forward after what felt like a cliffhanger.

Upgraded Stormtroopers

Upgraded Stormtroopers

The Imperial Stormtroopers are one of the most underrated parts of the Star Wars franchise. They always seem to be a pawn for the rebel forces to easily destroy. It appears the new army of Stormtroopers will come stocked with a series of visual upgrades to compliment their weaponry improvements. Here’s to hoping the new guys in white come with a higher IQ and a better ability to complete basic tasks.

Captain Phasma

Captain Phasma

When Captain Phasma makes her onscreen debut next week, she will be the first female villain to appear in a Star Wars feature film. Now, some might think this is an overlooked reason to be excited for the new film, but I think it’s a nice addition for the die-hard female Star Wars fan. The reason a lot of us loved the films as kids were because we vicariously lived through them along the way. It’s nice to see women have the opportunity to fully experience this next week as well.

Because It’s Star Wars

Because It’s Star Wars

Star Wars is back and we couldn’t be more excited for that simple reason. I have a few non- Star Wars friends that can’t seem to understand the hype surrounding this film. Outside a myriad of nostalgic reasons, the simplest answer I can give is – it’s Star Wars . I know, a terrible response, but it’s true. The awesomeness of the mythical vehicles, the stellar cast of characters, the wacky storyline, and this invisible thing called the Force is exactly why I’m ecstatic for the new film. It’s freaking Star Wars , folks, get excited!
