5 Reasons Apocalypse Could be the Best X-Men Movie Ever

5 Reasons Apocalypse Could be the Best X-Men Movie Ever

X-men: Apocalypse is finally here, and it might be the best X-Men film ever. Everything about this year’s film is another progressive step forward in bringing the franchise to new heights. The cast is full of highly touted actors and set around a brand new storyline that looks totally boss. Let’s take a look at the 5 reasons we think X-Men: Apocalypse is going to kick some major butt by being the best X-Men movie in years.

Quicksilver

Quicksilver

No new X-Men movie is complete without perhaps the most underrated character in Quicksilver. The former track and field beast who holds 8 world records will be taking that epic speed back to the big screen for Apocalypse . The film is said to have a scene showing off Quicksilver’s speed that will blow the one in X -Men: Days of Future Past out of the water. That statement right there is enough reason for me to see the new addition.

Magneto

Magneto

Without a doubt the greatest X-Men villain of all time, Magneto makes his return to the year’s latest installment. Magneto has been strategically toeing the line between hero and villain throughout the trilogy so far. Undoubtedly the magnetic one will land on the “good guy” side of things within Apocaplyse (there’s a greater enemy to fight, after all) but he certainly plays both roles very well. Either way, I’m stoked to see Magneto capture another central role within the film.

Wolverine

Wolverine

Another rumor is that Wolverine makes an extended and important cameo within the film, not only to build upon the storyline, but also provide a platform for his next film. The biggest question, however, centers on why Wolverine has largely been left out of the story in the first place. He’s a pivotal figure in the storied franchise and he’s being left out at a rather important time. It’s like telling Captain America to sit this Avengers movie out. Of course, the director has speculated that the character doesn’t fit within the plot, but that seems more like a cop-out than anything. Maybe the rumors are true that Hugh Jackman is finally getting ready to hang ’em up.

Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac was a straight up beast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and he’s bringing his talents to the latest X-Men film as the one and only Apocalypse. I couldn’t think of a better actor to play the supercharged role of X-Men’s most powerful supervillain than Isaac. He was sensation during Ex Machina , and should transition that stern characterization to Apocalypse .

Classic X-Men Return

Classic X-Men Return

Apocalypse will feature some old X-Men favorites for the first time within the new X-Men timeline when Angel, Jubilee, and Psylocke join the ranks. Throw in a younger, ’80s version of Jean Grey and Cyclops, who have both been recast, and you’ve got yourself another intriguing layer to Apocalypse. I’m interested to see how these classic characters affect the plotline and drive the story forward.
