5 Great Reasons You’ll LOVE Mario on Mobile

5 Great Reasons You’ll LOVE Mario on Mobile

Apple recently announced that it’s bringing everyone’s favorite Italian plumber to the iOS platform. Mario will make his mobile debut in Super Mario Run when the title arrives sometime this December. The emergence of Mario within the mobile realm is both intriguing and long overdue. In fact, it almost feels like a crime our old pal Mario hasn’t graced the stage of modern mobile technology. Here are the top five reasons Mario belongs on the mobile platform.

Jumpman’s Been a Cash Cow for 30 Years

Jumpman’s Been a Cash Cow for 30 Years

Mario has been a staple of the Nintendo’s sales successes for over three decades and he doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. The fact that Mario hasn’t even come close to tasting the bright lights of mobile gaming is a wild concept. Remove all the preconceived notions about Nintendo’s odd business model and you will see that it’s an instant cash cow on both the iOS App Store and Android‘s Google Play. Simply put, Mario’s debut on this wildly successful platform is long overdue.

iOS Platform Is the Best Choice for Nintendo

iOS Platform Is the Best Choice for Nintendo

The choice for Nintendo to release its strapping golden boy of a plumber on iOS is quite simple – the platform remains a strong contender in the competitive mobile market. In fact, in late January Apple announced its user base reached 1 billion active members from around the world. Android might top the global market share, but iOS is great for name recognition and has a lower piracy rate, which helps pay-up-front games like this one. It’s easy to see why iOS is the top choice for Nintendo’s mascot, though Super Mario Run will also be coming to Android eventually.

Nintendo Needs a 1Up

Nintendo Needs a 1Up

Nintendo is well aware that its profits and stocks are in desperate need of some saving grace. Its conservative approach over the last half-decade or so has seen the company make a handful of clumsy and questionable mistakes along with a rather significant loss of potential revenue. Nintendo knows it needs to recapture its base and Mario is certainly the man to do the job. Why else would Nintendo break its own golden rule and release Pokemon Go and Mario on non-Nintendo platforms?  Because the company’s survival depends on it.

A Ray of Light in a Dark Place

A Ray of Light in a Dark Place

This may very well be the cheesiest entry I’ve ever compiled during a weekly list, but I’m going full-bore with it regardless. Mario is one of the last remaining pure video game characters in existence. Seriously, when’s the last time Mario made you mad? The answer is never, because he’s incapable of inflicting negativity (unless, of course, he cuts you off in Mario Kart ). He’s been a source of joy for many gamers over the years and it’s finally time he spreads his wings, which are neatly tucked within his red hat. Fly to new heights, Mario!

He Was Built for This

He Was Built for This

Mario’s original debut was in the early 1980’s, back when he was Jumpman in Donkey Kong , tasked to save the princess from that savage beast . From then on , Mario has never met with the sour taste of failure. In fact, he’s never been featured in a bad game ever, which is remarkable seeing as the look if his character has evolved considerably over time. Believe it or not, Mario has been included in over 250 video games since his inception. Mario Teaches Typing was an instant classic at my grammar school and it was absolutely fantastic. Yes, a game that teaches typing skills – mindboggling. Clearly, Mario deserves his spot on the iOS platform, because if anybody can star in a quality mobile game, it’s Mario.
