Stan Lee’s Top 5 Marvel Cameos

Stan Lee’s Top 5 Marvel Cameos

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige recently revealed some rather interesting news regarding the artist who gave birth to Spider-Man, Stan Lee. Feige confirmed that everyone’s favorite comic book legend has recently filmed as many as four separate cameos for upcoming Marvel movies… at age 94! Lee’s inclusion in just about every modern marvel film has been both hilarious and something I personally look forward to viewing. Rather than speculate what Stan the man has been up to in the Marvel universe, I’d thought we’d take a walk down memory lane and remember Stan Lee’s five best cameos ever.

Amazing Spider-Man

Amazing Spider-Man

This is by far one of the best cameos Stan Lee has ever done. As Spider-Man is waging war against The Lizard, Stan is enjoying a bit of classical music as he finishes up some work. Spiderman saves him from getting pummeled by a flying table all while he is oblivious to the entire scene unfolding behind him. A classic tribute to the writer that first created Spider-Man all those years ago.

Captain America: The Winter Solider

This is perhaps one of Stan Lee’s more hilarious cameos, as he plays the security guard who lets Captain America take back his famous uniform. The cam pans to a slowly walking Lee just before he stops dead in his tracks to see Captain America’s uniform is missing from the display. He follows up with, “Oh man, I am so fired.” This is vintage Stan Lee.

Spider Man 3

This one is kind of sappy and certainly pulls at your heartstrings, but it’s Stan Lee at his best. Peter Parker pauses for a moment to see a scrolling marquee labeled, “Spider-Man to receive key to the city.” Stan Lee enters the frame and mutters a deep introspective sentiment, “ You know, I guess one person can make a difference. Enough said.” Lee couldn’t have said it any better.

Thor

Stan Lee is a man of many talents, including his ability to play a good old boy fixin’ to pull Thor’s hammer from the ground. After a few burly dudes attempt to pull the big man’s hammer from the Earth, one guy has the bright idea to hook it up to his pickup truck. After a few revs of the engine and a cloud of dust emitted from the spinning tires, the truck bed flips right off. The camera pans to none other than Lee himself, who blurts out, “Did it work?” all while decked out in a flannel and baseball cap.

The Avengers

The Avengers

This one never made it to the big screen but it still contains vintage Stan Lee. After Captain America finishes up his breakfast in front of the Stark Industry’s massive downtown tower, the waitress casually flirts with Cap. The unsuspecting superhero doesn’t catch on and goes about his business scribbling on a note pad. That’s when Stan Lee kicks in from the table next to him. Lee leans over and delivers this golden line: “Ask for her number, you moron.” Doesn’t get much more Stan Lee than this.
