Top 5 Gaming Movies That Wouldn’t Suck

Top 5 Gaming Movies That Wouldn’t Suck

Will Ferrell is back and he’s set to star in his next big flick as an eSports professional gamer. Just imagine Talladega Nights grouped with Step Brothers with a little bit of Old School and Wedding Crashers all tied together. Ferrell’s latest movie announcement got us thinking about what type of game his character might jump into the world of eSports with. That led us one step further to the top 5 video games that should have been made into movies but never were. Let’s take a look at this epic list.

Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo: Combat Evolved

Master Chief has long been overdue to hit the silver screen. In fact, he almost made his debut in 2004, but the project collapsed in late 2006 for unknown reasons. Nonetheless, the Halo series would easily be a perfect action trilogy with by far one of video gaming’s best protagonists. Think of it now – Master Chief, Cortana, and all those epic enemies.

Legend of Zelda

Legend of Zelda

Nintendo could very well be on the verge of making this happen with their most recent theme park announcement and a possible Netflix live-action series. Seeing Link take on Ganondorf somewhere deep in the deku forest would be simply amazing. Link would rip out the Ocarina of Time, play a soft tune, and then destroy Ganon like it’s nobody’s business.

The Last of Us

The Last of Us

This action-adventure horror-based title was truly a work of art. It encompassed everything we love about video games and much more. It could easily be used as a case study for game design students everywhere. Yet, it just can’t seem to get off the ground and make it’s way to the big screen. Some day Ellie will recaptivate us on the big screen with a movie busting at the seams with drama, just like she busts apart some zombies..

BioShock

BioShock

Here’s another beautiful game with a gripping storyline. It’s easily one of the top 10 games ever made, and it has a message that transcends the bounds of the medium. The leap to live-action would be much more easy now that it would have been back when the game was released in 2007. Just imagine how epic a Big Daddy would look up against a real-life actor.

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is another game on this list that is easily placed within the top 10, if not top 5, best video games of all time. The story was perfect, the action and drama were alive and well, and we felt a true connection to John Marston. Perhaps the most important reason of all; it’s a fricking Western! Why doesn’t anybody make Westerns anymore?
