Top 10 Games We Want on the Nintendo Switch

Top 10 Games We Want on the Nintendo Switch

The Switch is upon us. By this time next week, we’ll know exactly what to expect from Nintendo’s next console. It’s an exciting prospect. But then, we already know some of the things the company has planned. After all, the announcement trailer showed updated versions of Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon , two Wii U games, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , a game coming to the Wii U and Switch. With Nintendo already showing a willingness to put updated versions of existing games on its new platform, maybe we’ll see a lot more ports! If so, these 10 games should definitely make the jump from one console to the other.

The Wonderful 101

The Wonderful 101

Now that Scalebound has been canceled and Nier: Automata is preparing to ship out worldwide, we know Platinum Games is bound to have some spare time. The Wonderful 101 is one of the best Wii U games people didn’t play. In it, you control hordes of heroes and fight off invading aliens. It was a bright, colorful, and fun game, and a Switch port would give PlatinumGames a chance to add more heroes and situations.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

The Donkey Kong Country games are amazing. Everyone knows how great Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii was. Yet somehow, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze , a Wii U follow-up, flew under the radar. This is unacceptable, especially since it brought Dixie Kong back and made Cranky Kong playable for the first time ever. The soundtrack and gameplay were amazing, and it would look and sound even more gorgeous on the Switch.

NES Remix Pack

NES Remix Pack

NES Remix and NES Remix 2 were two incredible Wii U releases that took classic NES games and tasked people with quickly completing objectives in each one. Even better, there were special supplemental levels that mashed up iconic games. The two were bundled together for retail as the NES Remix Pack. Considering the success of the NES Classic Edition, a Switch version that added some more games and additional mash-ups would be a welcome addition.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was such a charming game. Getting to solve various puzzles by exploring every nook and cranny of a cubic space, collecting treasures and stars, was an absolute joy. It was even relaxing at its most challenging. More people should play this game, and a Switch port that adds extra levels or even a supplemental campaign would be a delight.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is not only a great Wii U game, it was one of the best JRPGs released in 2016. It was basically a Persona and Fire Emblem mash-up. The story was touching, the music infectious, and the battle system was really fun. An expanded version with some extra costumes, maybe another dungeon or two, and of course an additional song, would be more than welcome on the Switch. Besides, it didn’t need those supplemental text messages constantly appearing on the Gamepad at all times anyway!

Pokken Tournament

Pokken Tournament

Now we’re getting to some of the most likely Switch ports. The arcade version of Pokken Tournament has been continually updated in Japan. While the Wii U version stopped at 16 playable characters, Croagunk, Darkrai, Empoleon, and Scizor were added to the arcade release throughout 2016. A Switch release would give people everywhere a chance to use these additional characters, as well as possibly expand the cast with characters from Pokemon Sun and Moon . Given the Pokemon popularity boom, this is an idea that can’t miss!

Minecraft

Minecraft

Minecraft has been a huge seller on the Wii U. It’s done amazing in North America and Europe, and even managed to make it onto the list of top 10 Japanese eShop games of all time. I mean, it has special content that allows you to explore Super Mario -themed worlds as our favorite characters from the series. Of course we want to know that’ll be available for us on the Switch, preferably as quickly as possible.

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker

There are tons of amazing Super Mario Maker levels out there. People really went to town when it came to getting creative with this editor. Don’t you think that’d be a great way to welcome people to the Switch? I mean, we know Nintendo has no problem porting this particular game. It came to the 3DS last month, after all. Wouldn’t it fit well as part of the Switch launch lineup? Especially if it did something daring like add additional enemies and items.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Xenoblade Chronicles X was the Wii U game we didn’t expect. It was this massive, open-world adventure that let us tackle as many or as few issues as we liked. We could get close to the characters who joined our party. We even had freaking mechs that we could customize. It was pretty great. Imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to play it everywhere. A Switch port would do that for us. Plus, it could actually increase the font. Because the one thing Xenoblade Chronicles X needed was a bigger font. Oh, and maybe an extended ending, since cliffhangers kind of suck.

Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros.

It feels like something Super Smash Bros. related is coming, doesn’t it? After all, we never received the Bayonetta, Cloud, or Corrin amiibo. The fighter was one of the Wii U and 3DS’ most popular games. Doesn’t it feel like it would just fit on the Switch? Think of the mobile multiplayer matches! A port that perhaps adds a few new characters and maybe an extra level or two would certainly be at home on the new system.
