The Top 5 Most Amazing Nintendo Creations Ever

The Top 5 Most Amazing Nintendo Creations Ever

February is here, which means The Nintendo Switch will officially launch next month. It’s hard to believe we’re a few weeks away from Nintendo’s next highly touted console. If we’ve learned anything from the Japanese gaming giant over the last few decades, it’s they know how to create hype. Nintendo has given me some of the best gaming years of my life, and I’m hoping they begin with a bang when the Switch emerges on March 3.

Really, Nintendo has given us all something special over the last few decades. Let’s take a look at the five best things to come from the Nintendo brand since the dawn of its existence.

Super Mario

Super Mario

This one is, without a doubt, a no-brainer. The very first Super Mario Bros . game spawned a huge and incredibly successful brand. Mario has grown into a mega celebrity from Japan to the U.S and everywhere in between. He’s appeared in over 200 games and sold more than 500 million units since 1985, when he began his life as a simple plumber named Jumpman.

Nintendo 64

Nintendo 64

The N64 was a revolutionary piece of gaming equipment when Nintendo released it in the fall of 1996. It had everything – 3D rendered graphics, epic console exclusives, loads of creative games, and, most importantly, it cultivated the multiplayer gaming experience better than any other system up to that point. The N64 was a trailblazer that helped multiplayer gaming evolve and reach new heights.

NES Zapper Light Gun

The Nintendo Entertainment System Zapper, which went by the far cooler The Gun in Japan, burst onto the scene in the 1980’s alongside the iconic Duck Hunt . Every kid had to have one, and it was by far one of the coolest things to come out of Nintendo. Still, to this day, the light gun seems years ahead of its time.

Game Boy

Game Boy

The first handheld gaming system with interchangeable cartridges came directly from the genius at Nintendo. Talk about way ahead of its time, the Game Boy was unlike anything the gaming community had ever seen. Ironically, without its creation back in 1989, the Switch probably wouldn’t have come to life this March.

NES

NES

None of anything Nintendo has accomplished in the last few decades would be possible without the inception of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Many of Nintendo’s beloved characters, like Mario, Samus, and Link, would ever have come to fruition without this pivotal piece of gaming history. Not only that, but video games as a recreational activity might not have gotten the push in popularity they needed to become what they are today. Thanks, you terrible looking, but incredibly fun console!
