7 Hot VR Titles We Want in 2017

7 Hot VR Titles We Want in 2017

Virtual reality technology is still in its infancy, as far as long standing gaming tech is concerned. Yet, for some of us, it’s captured our hearts and souls. I’ve long since dreamed of immersive VR tech since I watched the .hack anime as a kid. The idea of being able to walk side by side my favorite characters is a utopic one. In that spirit, here are the top seven games I’d love to see in VR.

The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian

Even when playing The Last Guardian on the PlayStation 4, I was having sensations of vertigo. Imagine how thrilling the high-wire act of climbing up chains and leaping across gaps thousands of feet into the air would be in VR. The headset would also potentially make it easier to guide Trico where you want to go, as you can look to exact locations and point. Plus who doesn’t want to pet Trico from the first-person perspective with a VR headset?

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn

It’s unarguable that Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the most beautiful games out there today. The variety of ways that you traverse your environment are almost as countless as the ways you can take down enemies. Climbing up the side of cliffs, sliding down a zip line, and leaping onto the back of a Tallneck would all be a virtual adrenaline ride in VR without ever having to leave your home.

For Honor

If you’re looking for non-stop action and the chance to get a good workout at the same time, For Honor would be an excellent VR option. The game is already all about curb stomping your enemies as effectively as possible. VR controllers with haptic feedback would add a whole other level to your battling spree. Imagine physically slashing your arms through the air and feeling the resistance as your blade hits your enemy. Killer.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Mass Effect: Andromeda

The newest addition in the Mass Effect franchise, Mass Effect: Andromeda has implemented some serious changes to the formula from the original trilogy. One of the biggest ones is the inclusion of a jet pack which gives you the ability to jump around and hover. VR controllers would allow for some serious high-speed action here. Imagine boosting towards your enemies and slicing them open with a quick sword slash. Plus, the romances would be better from the first person.

Riders of Icarus

Riders of Icarus

Depending on who you ask, Riders of Icarus is either awesome or they’ve never heard of it. I fall on the former side and adore this MMO. One of its biggest draws is the ability to tame nearly every creature in the game. Through a VR headset, you’d be able to much more effectively creep up on an animal and pounce on its back to tame it. The wild ride afterward while the animal bucks and jumps would be an interesting experience in VR.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first installment in The Legend of Zelda franchise that will be open-world. The oversaturated colors of Hyrule would look brilliant from the first person. Of course, the combat would be super fun to try with controllers in hand. But honestly, the sheer beauty of the game would be my biggest reason for wanting to see it through a headset.

The Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online seems generally hit or miss in the community. Personally, I enjoy it. What’s not to like about something that’s essentially Skyrim with friends? A virtual reality port of this MMO would be incredible. Its inclusion would allow us to battle dragons in first person with our friends at our side. Imagine swinging a sword with a VR controller and physically turning your head to glance at how your friend is faring.
