8 Upcoming Releases We’re Clueless About

8 Upcoming Releases We’re Clueless About

Video game releases are an ever-constant running stream. When one of our most waited for titles releases, here comes another one that we can’t wait to get our hands on. Thanks to the internet, we usually have a multitude of sources for information on new titles. However, there are always outliers. We hear their names, but then we don’t learn hardly anything else about them. Sometimes, not even until after they’re released. (I’m looking at you Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul. ) Here are some currently unreleased games that we know next to nothing about.

From Other Suns

From Other Suns

All we really know about From Other Suns thus far is that it is essentially Faster Than Light with three-player co-op added in. You take the place of a crew member of a spaceship and battle along with your friends. The game will be a VR title for the Oculus Rift, specifically. There’s some evidence in the game’s announcement trailer that humor will be involved, so that has us intrigued.

State of Mind

State of Mind

State of Mind is being developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment and there’s really not much we know about it outside of its interesting art style. The Steam page for the unreleased game references “transhumanism,” whatever that means. It sounds like a smart game, seeing as how it will apparently explore the “existential drama that develops in a society on the brink of post-material existence.”

Earthfall

Earthfall

Earthfall is your typical sci-fi game, in that it takes place after a meteor hits Earth and unleashed the fury of an alien race upon humanity. Supposedly it’s a co-op shooter though, which makes it worth wanting to know more about. I love killing aliens with my buddies. Earthfall will take place in the Pacific Northwest which seems to be a trend lately (cough Days Gone cough).

ECHO

ECHO

ECHO is an upcoming stealth game that uses copies of your player character to fuel your gameplay. The playable character appears to be some kind of android, since the copies have a “wake up” animation when they seem to activate. The setting looks to be repetitive but gorgeous, taking place in a massive white mansion.

Ni no Kuni II

Ni no Kuni II

This entry in the list will appear familiar as it is a sequel, yet it is equally warranted to be here. Ni No Kuni was a Japanese import game that mixed elements of Studio Ghibli and Pokemon with games like the Tales series. It was an all-around great game and thus the sequel has us excited. We don’t know much about Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom yet, but we can’t wait to know more.

Observer

Observer

Observer is coming to us from the same studio that developed Layers of Fear , a break out star in adventure games. This next project takes place in a post-apocalyptic, future Poland. All we really know so far is that it’s possible to hack into nightmares and use your fears against you. The cross between cyber elements like holograms and post-apocalyptic crumbling buildings really draws you in.

Scorn

Scorn

Scorn has been an enigma in the video game landscape lately, but especially for horror gamers. It’s a first-person adventure that looks heavily inspired by H.R. Giger. We know it’s a non-linear game that takes place in many different regions within a “lived-in” world. There will be no cut scenes or HUD in the game, in an effort to give players full immersion into the game.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077

Perhaps one of the most widely heard of unreleased games in this list, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming releases. The trailer for this game is four years old now, and we still know next to nothing about it. It’s a role-playing game based on the pen-and-paper RPG Cyberpunk 2020 and takes place in Night City. But past that, it’s up to our imaginations I guess. I’ve been amped for this title for so long, and I’m dying to know more.

How about you? Which game here is the highest on your “I can’t wait to hear more about it” list?
