5 Things That Always Cause a Gamer Brawl

5 Things That Always Cause a Gamer Brawl

A study of epic proportions regarding what was considered cool was recently conducted by Google. In their study, they found teenagers 13-18 ranked the Xbox One much higher on their list of cool things than the PlayStation 4. This incredible piece of unearthed knowledge seems to have reignited the old argument regarding which one is truly better, or cooler in the eyes of the younglings. This ridiculous waste of market analysis got us thinking about the top things video gamers argue about. Let’s start some old-fashioned rounds of fisticuffs.

Console vs. PC

Console vs. PC

If you thought the Xbox versus PlayStation argument was a ripe platform for heated discussion, you’ve haven’t experienced when PC and console gamers go to war. My barber, for instance, is a huge PC gamer and can’t get enough of the World of Warcraft franchise. He’s always geeking out about his character. Often our conversation goes from general life discussion, to current events, then directly to why I need to drop the console and build a PC setup. He’s offered compelling arguments but, like so many others before me, I’m not jumping ship. Sorry, Gary – you’re still my boy and one dope barber.

Review Discrepancies

Review Discrepancies

The arguments don’t get much more heated than those surrounding a game’s review. In particular, a critic’s review of a popular game. I’m still fascinated by the endless discussions, often times vile and heated, that carry on among gamers regarding a reviewer’s particular opinions of a title. You would almost think the critic beat up their dog, robbed their grandmother, and stole their lunch money all in one swift motion. It almost always lead to an argument.

Call of Duty vs Battlefield

Call of Duty vs Battlefield

Golly gee willikers, Batman, if I hear this stupid argument one more time, I’m going to go insane. I’m still not sure why gamers continually debate between Call of Duty and Battlefield. Both are great and unique first-person shooters. I feel like this fight has been dragging on since day one. COD has better controls, BF has better functionality, and every gamer loses in the end after listening to this argument, again. It’s time we embrace these two games. Who am I kidding? This debate will never end.

Tale of Two Controllers

Tale of Two Controllers

The virtues of Xbox and PlayStation controllers have been debated for some time and nothing has come of these discussions. The arguments typically center around fanboy nonsense that falls more in line with the “fake it, til you make it” mantra, rather than constructive debate. Both are equal in their grandeur. (Though, the original Xbox controller was a byproduct of terrible QA testing and just downright awfulness.) Stop arguing about the two; they’re both stellar.

Risk It All

Risk It All

I’ve never seen a more heated debate over a game than one over Risk . Yes, Risk is predominantly known for its tabletop presentation, even if EA published a console version on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2010. Nevertheless, this game has led to plenty of arguments since its inception in 1957. It could be the turn based strategy that forces opponents to wait for one another as they slowly ponder their next move, or it could simply be the deceitful deception players use when forming and breaking alliances. Either way, the game is a breeding ground for heated disagreements.
