5 Things About Destiny 2 We’re Looking Forward To

The Destiny 2 beta has come and gone this past weekend, which leaves us with a mixture of excitement, frustration, intense anticipation, and cautious optimism. We can certainly spend some time going over what Destiny 2 needs to improve in order to make it a success, but I’d rather ride the smile train and give you the positives. Fact is, I give the Destiny a bad wrap from time to time, but that’s simply because Bungie made me into the gamer I am today with the Halo series. I have major expectations for these guys, which I realize isn’t all too fair. Nonetheless, I bring you the top five things we’re definitely looking forward to in Destiny 2 .

PVP

PVP

The meat of the Destiny series lies in its ability to distance itself from every other FPS in the PvP category. Love it or hate it, Destiny has one of the best PvP systems in gaming. Of course, tweaks can always be made, but the core functionality keeps you coming back for more. Oh, and Destiny 2 updates a number of issues from the original, including map balance and prioritizing primary gun battles.

The Raids

The Raids

Oh those sweet, sweet raids that keep you up until all hours of the night when you’ve got work or school the next morning. Destiny’ s raids were pretty stellar, as a sizable amount of planning and creativity that went into each one. The multitude of layers, complex puzzles, and total team effort required made them loads of fun. Destiny 2 shouldn’t be any different and the raids, theoretically, should get even better.

A Plan

A Plan

It seems like Destiny 2 will actually have some type of plan regarding its story and content moving forward. Bungie finally looks like they know what they heck they’re doing with this artistic, cult-like following they’ve created. Unlike last year’s version, where most gamers spent months pondering the meaning of all the things threw at us, this year seems much more focused. That’s a good thing, because pointless DLC for the sake of revenue and buying time to figure out what the heck their game actually is was getting annoying.

Legendary & Exotic Weapons

Legendary & Exotic Weapons

The Legendary and Exotic weapons in Destiny were what kept a lot of folks coming back. For me, it was par for the course and was the main reason to keep grinding out the hours to improve my chances of pulling one of these dope pieces of equipment. Bungie’s laser focus on Destiny 2 makes the possibility of Legendary and Exotic Weapon rather exciting. I’m hoping they bring back the pre-nerfed Suros Regime with a few tweaks.

Bungie

Bungie

Lets face it, the only reason we keep playing entries in the Destiny series is because of Bungie’s genius. They continue to revolutionize the FPS genre and push the limits of the gaming industry as a whole. If any developer can redirect Destiny 2 ‘s trajectory and take its already great foundation to new heights, it’s certainly Bungie. I am looking forward to new weapons, new maps, refined gameplay, and all the tricks Bungie is well known for as a leader in the industry.
