Top 10 Black Friday Deals of 2017

Top 10 Black Friday Deals of 2017

It’s that time of the year again. Time for people to lose their dang minds over cheap(ly made) TVs, middling deals on outdated software, and most importantly, bins full of DVDs nobody would have purchased at normal price. It’s Black Friday! To the benefit of all of you people crazy enough to go out in the cold at some ungodly hour to make Best Buy employees miserable, we’ve put together a list of the best deals you can get out there for the purposes of playin’ video games on the cheap. There aren’t a lot of nuances to video game deals, but we’ve dug through it all so you don’t have to. Enjoy!

Controllers

Controllers

This is a deal that’s pretty much universal wherever you end up, but it’s one of the best deals you can get so it’s important to mention. Normally 60 bones, you can walk into your retail spot of choice and pick up most PS4 and Xbox One controllers for around $20 off. There is some variation when it comes to retail-exclusive and limited edition models, but generally speaking you can get an extra controller or two for a deal you won’t usually come across normally.

Computer Parts

Computer Parts

If you’re one of those PC gaming nerds, it’s hard to go anywhere other than Newegg for parts, especially on Black Friday. Newegg will be hosting tons of deals on parts you need for a gaming rig, including graphics cards, memory, and storage. Several deals will shave roughly $50 off the retail prices, and every dollar counts when it comes to PC parts.

Destiny 2

Destiny 2

One of the hottest games of 2017 is definitely Destiny 2 , and many budget-concious gamers have been patiently waiting for a deal on this one. Retail spaces will be your best bet, with Gamestop having the cheapest option at $27. Digital copies will run you about $39, and other stores will fall somewhere in-between. Blizzard is also offering a discount on the PC version, via Battle.Net.

Wolfenstein II

Wolfenstein II

Wolfenstein II is definitely the star of Black Friday. This game is rapidly approaching cult status, with tons of great reviews in spite of ostensibly lower-end sales numbers. But for anyone still on the fence for some reason, you can get this incredible shooter for at least half off, if not even cheaper in some places. If you still want to play Wolfenstein II while people are actively talking about it, here’s your best chance.

Call of Duty: WWII (at Walmart)

Call of Duty: WWII (at Walmart)

One of the biggest games of the season is Call of Duty: WWII . While some stores have modest discounts for the game on offer, Walmart seems to have some kind of deal with Activision. Black Friday will knock this game down to $43 at Walmart specifically, while it’ll be closer to $50 elsewhere. But, even better, is that Walmart also will have an exclusive bundle that comes in its own box and includes a copy of Infinite Warfare essentially for free.

Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass

Ballin’ on a budget? Just bought an Xbox One X and are totally tapped out? Here’s the deal for you. For Black Friday, new memberships for the Xbox Game Pass service will be just a dollar. That’s right, one buck for a month of access to what’s legitimately a pretty dope subscription service. The best part is that Gears of War 4 is being added to the list on December 1, meaning the whole series will be available as a result. Gears of War 4 is also one of the marquee releases that have recieved Xbox One X enhancements.

Gamefly

Gamefly

Gamefly isn’t normally an outlet you’d think of for buying games, but the store really gets good around Black Friday. Normally, only members can take true advantage of the various deals when it comes to buying used games from the long-running rental service. But during Black Friday, not only can you get games for cheaper than you can almost anywhere else, but even non-members can buy games and do so without paying shipping costs.

Special Nintendo Items

Special Nintendo Items

Just like last year, Nintendo has introduced a couple of special items for Black Friday, carried by retailers only for the duration of the event. These are the special green-colored 2DS Link Edition, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Explorer’s Edition. The former is a unique color pallete that comes with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D pre-installed. The former is a copy of the game on Switch that comes with a few neat bonus goodies, for the normal price of the game. Expect these to rocket up in price on the secondhand market withing 24 hours of Black Friday.

GameStop

GameStop

GameStop has some notably better sales than nearly any other retail space this year when it comes to video games. And we should hope so, considering it’s, well, explicitly a video game store. Software such as Destiny 2 and Wolfenstein II will be available at Gamestops for less than anyone else is offering. Not only that, but GameStop is the only retailer offering a deal on the PS4 Pro. It’s a slight discount, but when it’s the only one available, that’s still worth noting.

Xbox Games Store

Xbox Games Store

In terms of digital deals, the clear best spot to shop is the Xbox Games Store. Tons and tons of games are on sale, with even lower prices for Xbox Live Gold members. From feature-packed Xbox One games like The Witcher III and Final Fantasy XV to backwards-compatible 360 joints such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night , Xbox One players will be able to pad their collection for a fraction of the price they’d be paying anywhere else for the same content. Many of these deals are Season Pass bundles as well, which is pretty huge.
