CheatCC’s E3 2018 Wish List

CheatCC’s E3 2018 Wish List

It’s about that time of year! E3 2018 is only a couple months away, and that means everyone in the industry and circling around it for table scraps (yo) is scrambling to get their crap together. While all of us are worried about nearly a week of logistical nightmares, late nights, and poor self-care, all of you just get to look forward to awesome games coverage, and hype new announcements. Well I’d like to have some fun too, so let’s talk about what we’d like to see at E3 2018, before we start getting a better idea of what we will see.

The Avengers

The Avengers

Something I think we’ll definitely see more of is Square Enix’s Avengers game. Spider-Man will likely dominate the show floor, but Square Enix needs content for its own conference, and expanding more on the tiny teaser trailer we got oh so long ago now would be perfect. It’s about time. We know Tomb Raider is where it is and will be now, so seeing what Crystal Dynamics proper has been up to is a big deal. I doubt a release date or anything is in the cards, but something more substantial on what this game actually is would do a lot for everyone involved.

What’s Next for Bluepoint?

What’s Next for Bluepoint?

Riding high on the success of the Shadow of the Colossus remake, Bluepoint Games has already announced its next project will be another remake or remaster of a classic game. What better way to get a good ol’ cheap pop during the Sony conference than to introduce what that is? It could be any old Sony property that nobody gives a second throught to anymore, but the way the Kool-Aid flows at these things the people would get loud as hell regardless. Or it could be something radical like Legend of the Dragoon and someone in the audience would actually die from having a heart attack.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077

This is pretty obligatory. It’s a foregone conclusion we’ll be seeing Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 this year. The Witcher is done for now, it soaked up all the awards and everything, and Gwent ain’t enough to sustain jobs on. It’s time to give lip service to the next big thing, and all the social media shenanigans should be proof enough that CD Projekt Red is ready to show something off.

Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5

It’s gonna happen, right? It has to! All the rumors and leaks from Eurogamer and the like may as well have confirmed this thing. And I am so, so desperate for Capcom to give me anything that could wipe the foul taste of Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry out of my mouth. I need real Dante, not boner and abortion jokes edgy moron Dante. Also like, a game that doesn’t completely botch the fundamentals of what made Devil May Cry a brilliant and distinct character action game in the first place would be nice too.

Square Enix Release Dates

Square Enix Release Dates

As great as Final Fantasy XV is and will continue to be, we can’t do it again. Square Enix needs to drop a number for Kingdom Hearts III , and stick to it. And it needs to give us, at the very least, a year for Final Fantasy VII Remake . Nobody has confidence that Nomura can deliver as a director, and that needs to change as quickly as it possibly can. Kingdom Hearts III being an Unreal joint means it likely has a good chance of coming out on time. Not so sure about VII , but that’s what wishlists are for.

Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4

It’s time for Samus to make her HD debut, and I don’t mean as a Smash Bros. character. Nintendo shocked the world when it announced Metroid Prime 4 for the Switch, and now it’s time to follow that up with some details. Who’s developing it? What’s it about? What are the gimmicks? The world needs to know, Reggie!

Pokemon

Pokemon

So far, all we know about the next Pokemon game is it’s on the Switch and we may or may not be looking at a real, in-progress shot of the game. (If you can get past all the blurry noise, that is.) Pokemon is a huge deal, and if we can get anything about what the next game even looks like, the people will go nuts. Of course, sometimes the Pokemon stuff ends up getting its own special treatment outside of the Nintendo group messaging, so we might not hear about this one until sometime after E3. Still, I’ve got my hopes up for a super hype E3 Nintendo Direct, especially after how the smaller ones have been since March 2017.

Resident Evil 2 Remake

Resident Evil 2 Remake

When I went to my first E3, Capcom had these adorable little train chair stations set up for its HD port of Resident Evil 0 . When I saw them, all the memories of how great the Resident Evil on Gamecube days were. And it’s been so long since we heard anything about the Resident Evil 2 remake that we all know is happening. However, Capcom has been a little teasy, changing the official Resident Evil Twitter bio to something a little more classic recently. We’ll see what happens, but Capcom always has something cool to show off at the show, and Mega Man 11 might not be enough.

A Smash Bros. Character Reveal

A Smash Bros. Character Reveal

It’s been too long since we had a good, old-fashioned Super Smash Bros. character reveal. Unfortunately, the Splatoon kids were a bit overshadowed by the actual game annoucement earlier this year when the title was confirmed. So now the sky’s the limit, and with a likely info dump for what this iteration of Smash Bros . actually is coming to the show, there’s no way it isn’t paired with some other new roster additions.

Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch’s next big game, and newest IP, is likely going to be the star of the show at Sony’s E3 2018, much like Spider-Man was last year. There’s enough mystery surrounding the project that the community is begging for anything Sony would be generous enough to toss out there, and even just some hints at gameplay would be enough to get the social media feeds and message boards roaring with activity. So let’s figure out what this thing is, yeah?
