5 Hottest from the Land of the Rising Sun

5 Hottest from the Land of the Rising Sun

To say that there’s a difference in the appearance of games produced in the United States and ones made in Japan might be a bit of an understatement. Sure, the two influence one another but they have clearly recognizable styles that make it easy to identify where they were made. Often, there are comparisons made between Japanese games and anime, and it isn’t hard to see why.

And, because there are many strokes for different folks, gamers will differ on which region’s games have the hotter ladies. This list is for the “waifu” crowd, as I seek to find which characters might best represent the potential sexiness of Japanese games.

Primrose Azelhart from Octopath Traveler

Primrose Azelhart from Octopath Traveler

Primrose: a pretty name to complement a sexy look. This isn’t one of those times where a character is incidentally sexy. Primrose is hot and she knows it. In fact, there’s a mechanic in the game, called Allure, where she employs sultry language and a flourish of her body in order to convince NPCs that they should follow her around and battle on her behalf. It’s likely a skill she picked up in her career as a dancer.

Lulu from Final Fantasy X

Lulu from Final Fantasy X

Lulu doesn’t have the quintessentially anime look, but she remains distinctly JRPG in her design. It doesn’t take much to see how she qualifies for this list. She’s got that powerful, seductive air to her, a maturity that isn’t present in most of the cast, and an outfit that strategically teases just enough of her form. By this, of course I mean that the only skin she really shows is on her face and chest which is, for most fans, likely enough.

Ayane from Dead or Alive

Ayane from Dead or Alive

Okay, so, Dead or Alive is supposed to be sexy and, on all counts, it succeeds. There’s a such a variety of girls in this game, that there is practically someone who fits anyone’s taste. To my eye, Ayane is incomparable. She’s a stealthy, sexy, ninja who manages to be an acrobatic and competent fighter, despite her considerable bust size. She’s also got purple hair, which is cool if you’re into that sort of thing.

If you want to see more of Ayane or, really, any of the Dead or Alive characters, you can go a few rounds in the Xtreme Beach Volleyball games, which are even more blatant in their sex appeal than the fighting games.

Chun-Li from Street Fighter

Chun-Li from Street Fighter

If you’re at all familiar with Street Fighter , then you’re probably familiar with Chun-Li and her flurry of kicks. Hell, if you’re not familiar with Street Fighter, but you’re familiar with Nicki Minaj, then you are probably able to conclude that someone named Chun-Li has impressive legs. This is absolutely the case, and likely the reason that a large portion of her move set is kick-based. Her outfit is also meant to show draw attention to her legs, although this heroic character isn’t lacking in terms of other physical attributes, either.

Ivy from Soulcalibur

Ivy from Soulcalibur

Ivy is an extremely busty, scantily clad combatant with a sultry voice, a condescending attitude, and a sword that turns into a whip. Even the most innocent of people likely know the angle the developers are going for here: she is a dominatrix. She’s also one of those characters whose battle noises might draw awkward glances from people within earshot. Perhaps avoid the sound test, if you don’t want to embarrass yourself.
