7 Reasons Fortnite Is the Best at What It Does

7 Reasons Fortnite Is the Best at What It Does

There are a lot of battle royale games out there. Everyone wants a piece of that pie, now that the genre is hot. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds kicked it off, and now even AAA games like Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 are trying to shove it in. But there’s one battle royale game that has come out on top: Fortnite . This is the cream of the crop. But why? What makes this game the best at what it does?

More Than Just Shooting

More Than Just Shooting

A big part of Fortnite’ s tendency to be awesome is the fact that it isn’t just a 100-person battle royale with shooting. There are building elements. That means you can get a little more tactical. Creating shelter around yourself or devising some sort of trap can be a good way to get ahead of the game. Which might be why this game is ahead of the other battle royale games!

Real-World Bleed-Over

Real-World Bleed-Over

Epic Games is really good about hyping up Fortnite outside the game. The company does events that bring elements from it into the real world to get people talking. Case in point is the Durr Burger. The mascot, which is a giant burger, went missing from the game in early 2018, only to be found in a Palmdale, California desert in July 2018. People around the world were gossiping about it, even if they did not play the game! Now that is what I call viral marketing.

So Many Secrets

So Many Secrets

Do you know what Epic Games is great at? It is building a mystery. Between Fortnite seasons, the company makes a habit of doing strange things to hint at what could come next. There was a rift in the sky in Season 5. Now, ahead of Season 6, a mysterious purple cube is moving around the map. Where is it going? What is inside? Why does it warp reality for people around it? Those kinds of questions keep people coming back to Fortnite .

Multiplatform

Multiplatform

What can you play Fortnite on? Well, it is available on pretty much everything. If you have a console, computer, or mobile device, odds are you can get into the free-to-play battle royale game immediately. It is now available on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS devices, and Android devices. It’s kind of like Skyrim , in that you can’t escape it. Maybe it will even come to Amazon Alexa ?

Lots of Limited Time Modes

Lots of Limited Time Modes

Epic Games is great about keeping Fortnite updated. New limited time modes, which are only available for brief periods of in-game time, regularly appear. One of 2018’s was High Stakes, where people were taking part in a jewel heist where four teams are trying to find four safes on the map, get the jewel inside of one, and take it back to the van in the air. Almost all of the limited time modes are great, and we hope we see the best ones, like Playground, return again soon!

Cross-Play

Cross-Play

Know what is wonderful about Fortnite ? It supports cross-platform play. Well, so long as you do not and never play using your account on a PlayStation 4. But people with the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile versions of the game can all play together. It is awesome and impressive. Plus, it means platform preferences won’t keep you and your squad apart.

Free-to-Play

Free-to-Play

Here is the thing about a lot of battle royale games. You have to pay for them. PlayerUnknown’ s Battlegrounds is $29.99. You’ll have to buy a $59.99 copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 or Battlefield V for those games’ battle royale modes. Fortnite’ s battle royale experience is completely free. You don’t need to spend money on cosmetics unless you want to. Anyone on any platform can jump in, see if the game or battle royales are right for them, and opt out if they aren’t having a good time. That kind of freedom is great.
