Top 7 Games That Need DLC

Top 7 Games That Need DLC

We are living in an era where add-ons are an assumption. When a AAA game is going to be released, there is some sort of expectation that additional features will come after. Maybe these will be free. More likely, these extras will be paid. The point is, DLC is a given. Except, it isn’t really. Lots of games people wanted or thought would get extras, didn’t.

Let’s look back at seven titles we really wanted more of.

Detroit: Become Human

Detroit: Become Human

Quantic Dream games don’t always have DLC. Heavy Rain did, in the form of an add-on called The Taxidermist, and people who liked the game seemed to enjoy it. Given how many people took to Detroit: Become Human , people might have wanted to further explore that world. Maybe spend more time with Lt. Anderson and Connor. Except, it never received any other stories. Which probably made some PS4 owners sad.

The Evil Within 2

The Evil Within 2

The original The Evil Within had quite a bit of DLC! Additional adventures called The Assignment, The Consequence, and The Executioner gave people more to do in this spooky world. While The Evil Within 2 does a good job of wrapping things up, more or less, it was a standalone experience. But given how well it was received and how much people enjoyed it, it is a shame that it didn’t give people additional horrors to experience.

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! is a great game. And Pokemon titles are standalone titles, which is what makes them so much. But it would have been nice if we could have gotten a little something extra. Maybe some free Mystery Gift Pokemon to bolster our ranks? Perhaps extra outfit packs for our avatar and partner pokemon? Paid add-ons wouldn’t have worked here, but some extra support would have been appreciated by the fans.

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker

So, there were some extras added to Super Mario Maker. You could play certain levels to earn extra free characters. But what this game really needed were add-ons. The base game only had Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and Super Mario Bros. U styles. Wouldn’t it have been fun if Super Mario Bros. 2 have been in there? Maybe Super Mario Land would have been fun? Basically, more creation bits and pieces could have been so much more fun.

Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey

To its credit, Nintendo has been adding extras to Super Mario Odyssey. A few new outfits have been added for Mario. There is a mode that lets you talk to Luigi to hide balloons for friends. But what we really wanted were more worlds. This is a fantastic 3D platformer, and there is so much more that could have been done. Or, you know, maybe let us play as Peach in the post-game as she goes out and explores all of the game’s different locations for herself!

God of War

God of War

God of War ended with some major revelations. When Kratos and Atreus finally reach the end of their journey, we learn some amazing things and have taken down an incredible foe. In the process, they made some enemies. But, there’s also a post-game scene that suggested what could have been a DLC expansion? Nothing came of it. Maybe now it will hopefully become part of a sequel. Still, we can’t help but wish an add-on had appeared that let us go through a small campaign that teaser hinted at!

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V

People are never going to get over Grand Theft Auto V not getting DLC. Previous games in the series had these extra add-ons and expansions that fleshed things out. Some were amazing. But once the credits rolled on GTA V , that was it. Rockstar Games decided to invest in the more lucrative GTA Online , and hearts have been broken ever since.

Here’s hoping Red Dead Redemption 2 actually gets add-ons and doesn’t follow the same course!
