7 Things That’ll Make MK11 a Real Killer

7 Things That’ll Make MK11 a Real Killer

Mortal Kombat 11 is going to be huge. There was almost a five year gap between it and Mortal Kombat X . NetherRealm Studios took time to work on Injustice 2 and learn from it. Now, we have the next step in the series. While it isn’t showing up until April 23, 2019, there are plenty of things to be excited about. In fact, we’re going to go over all the things that might help make this one of the best fighting games of the eighth console generation.

A Confirmed Beta Test

A Confirmed Beta Test

With new games, we always wonder if we will or won’t get a chance to try it ahead of time. When it comes to Mortal Kombat 11, we know we will. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One beta has been set for March 28, 2019. The downside is, you have to preorder to have access to it. But, at least with that kind of leeway, you could preorder at some place like GameStop, get access, then cancel if you don’t like what you played.

Perfect Blocks

Perfect Blocks

There is nothing like being able to handle oncoming attacks well in a video game. We have seen the ability to defend and dodge in Mortal Kombat before. But in Mortal Kombat 11, there will be Perfect Blocks. If you can anticipate someone’s move and block at the right time, you can go ahead and have a window for a counter attack. It’s a way to reward you for paying attention and proving your might.

Fatal and Krushing Blows

Fatal and Krushing Blows

Elaborately gory and impossible attacks are a hallmark of the Mortal Kombat series. Seeing Sub-Zero freeze enemies, Reptile spit acid, or Raiden electrocute an opponent are all iconic moves. But in Mortal Kombat 11, we’ll have even more new moves we can use. If you managed to perform certain actions during a fight, you could unleash a Krushing Blow. If you rally when you are near death, you could strike back with a Fatal Blow. Both are guaranteed to be devastating.

Character Customization

Character Customization

Injustice 2 had NetherRealm Studios introduce us to a fighter where we could customize our characters’ appearances. Mortal Kombat 11 is going to build on that. When we have a character, we can customize their gear to change how their accessories and weapon may look, choose Kosmetics to alter their skin and cinematics, pick their AI behavior, and select abilities. It means instead of different variants, you’ll be able to make your favorite fighter your very own.

The First Female Boss

The First Female Boss

Think of the bosses we have seen over the years in various Mortal Kombat games. We have faced Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Onaga, and Blaze. What do they all have in common, besides being badass. They are all men. Kronika is going to be the first female boss in the series. That is pretty cool. Especially since she seems to have time manipulation abilities. It is going to be great to face her as a foe and really shake things up.

An Already Solid Cast

An Already Solid Cast

While it is still early, we already know some of the 25 fighters who will be appearing in Mortal Kombat 11. Raiden is going to be there. Sub-Zero and Scorpion return, as will their presumed feud. Sonya Blade and her daughter, Cassie Cage, will be back. (Sonya is even voiced by Ronda Rousey.) Baraka is back. Skarlet is here and won’t be DLC this time. If you preorder, Shao Kahn will show up. Also, we know that Geras, a minion of the new boss Kronika who may also have some time-related tricks up his sleeve, is the first new competitor. Things seem pretty good.

An Emphasis on Time

An Emphasis on Time

Listen, the Mortal Kombat timeline is in a bad way right now. In case you missed out where Mortal Kombat X left off, Raiden is corrupted, Liu Kang and Kitana are the new evil heads of the Netherrealm, Mileena is one of many characters who are now dead, and we are basically in what some might consider a bad timeline. By bringing in a boss who has some kind of mastery over time and a wish to restore balance, NetherRealm Studios could be preparing for a reset and reboot. Maybe things could have a happy ending, even! Well, happy for a Mortal Kombat game, anyway.
