Hottest Cosplay of WonderCon 2014

Hottest Cosplay of WonderCon 2014

Conventions are fun for many different reasons. Not only are you inundated with a huge stream of comics, games and pop-culture, but it gives everyone a chance to dust off their favorite cosplay outfits and spend some quality time among “their own kind.” And, as we all know, cosplay can be REALLY HOT! Many lovely ladies choose to geek out by adding a little spice to the festivities, which includes everything from skin-tight latex to homemade velvet capes. So, allow us to honor the female form in all its glory by bringing you the hottest cosplay ideas from WonderCon 2014!

Catwoman

Catwoman

The Catwoman costume is a staple of any convention. For years, most girls found that the Batman Returns/Michelle Pfeiffer version was really their bread and butter (with an occasional ‘60s era TV show thrown in for good measure here and there). However, since the Arkham games have debuted on the scene, we’re seeing a departure in favor of a more updated, contemporary look more and more these days. Purrrrrfect!

Random Goth Girls

Random Goth Girls

While I’m sure many of the Goth chicks at WonderCon are meant to pay tribute to one mistress of the dark or another, I have to believe that some are just random excuses to bust out the black lipstick and fishnets. Not that I’m complaining mind you, as allowing women to explore their dark sides is always a welcome exercise! I say let Halloween come once a month if this is the result!

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones

The world of Fire and Ice has burst onto the scene with reckless abandon over the last several years. The show itself, which can only be described as a dirty Lord of the Rings , makes perfect fodder for cosplay of the female variety.

Velma (Scooby-Doo)

Velma (Scooby-Doo)

Now, I have to admit, Velma would be the last character from the Scooby Doo cartoon that I’d think of when picking out a sexy cosplay outfit. While Daphne would be most people’s first choice (naturally), I’ve actually seen quite a few Velmas this year. From a zombie-apocalypse version to the sexy-sleuth seen here…you’re probably noticing that pleated skirt and Buddy Holly glasses in a whole new way now.

Reversed Genders

Reversed Genders

One of the most fun things about cosplay is that gender lines don’t mean a whole lot. It’s a regular occurrence to see a female version of a male character pop-up here and there (and even vice versa).

Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy

Ivy is another one of those great Batman villains that just oozes sex appeal. Aside from the fact that the real character refuses to wear clothes that contain more than a few leafy greens, a cosplay such as this usually requires very little cloth and a butt-load of green body paint. Throw in the added bonus of her always wanting to kiss her advisories to death, and you’ve got lots of steamy cosplay potential.

Black Widow

Black Widow

Iron Man 2 introduced us to a whole new kind of side-kick. We learned that sexy and strong can walk hand in hand, as Black Widow perfectly exemplifies how using the female body against your opponent can be a valuable tool. Anytime someone wants to slip into a tight leather suit and put on a burning-red wig…well, I’m certainly fine with that!

Super Girl

Super Girl

There is nothing more wholesome and all-American than Superman, or in this case, his little cousin! Leave it to Earth to turn her into a young, flying sex kitten! While this may not be what DC had in mind when they first dreamt up the concept, cosplay females have a take on her all their own! I literary put cats up in trees hoping she’ll swoop in and save the day! I’m still waiting…

Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn

Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel didn’t know what she was getting herself into the day she first interviewed the deranged psycho-path known as the Joker inside the walls of Arkham. Likewise, WonderCon didn’t know what hit it with the myriad of Harley Quinn outfits this year. This could be the most over-done idea, as I’ve seen every conceivable version (ranging from the ‘90s Animated Series to the current “Nurse” iteration from Arkham City ). But who am I kidding? I love ‘em all!

Slave Leia

Slave Leia

OK fellas, you know that a woman simply can’t go wrong with this tried and true classic. This is a costume that is over 30 years old and STILL gets our hearts pumping. You’re no doubt going to see tons of Slave Leias at any convention, and this year’s WonderCon was no exception. Maybe it’s me, but there’s something about a girl in a giant choke chain that really brings out the gold in her bikini. Path to the dark side…this is…
