Top 10 Game Trailers For 2013

Top 10 Game Trailers For 2013

Very few things can get a gamer more excited than an awesome, nerdgasm-inspiring trailer. We spent this week scouring YouTube, and we’ve come to the realization that there are some incredible trailers for some very exciting games. Here are ten of the best.

Destiny

Destiny

Bungie just dropped a load of information on their newest IP, and it looks pretty amazing. Even though most of what we see in the trailer is moving concept art, we also get a sneak preview at the epic environments of Destiny, which look varied and expansive. I’m really looking forward to seeing gameplay on this one, but for now I am content with this tantalizing taste of Bungie’s “shared world” shooter.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Even though there is no official release date yet for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, we can hope against hope that it might make this year’s launch window. The trailer looks excellent and thankfully, this is the return of the Solid series that we have all been waiting to see. For now, though, we will have to look to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to satiate our Metal Gear craving.

Beyond: Two Souls

Beyond: Two Souls

The folks at Quantic Dream (creators of Heavy Rain) have announced a tentative release date for 2013 for Beyond: Two Souls, though they haven’t confirmed a more specific street date. This trailer really shows off Ellen Page’s motion capture, and it gives us a pretty good idea of just how crazy the world of Beyond can get.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Sam Fisher has been kicking terrorist arse for two console generations now, and his skills have never looked sharper. In Splinter Cell: Blacklist, he has been given the “Fifth Freedom” by our Commander-in-Chief and an upgraded combat system from Ubisoft. He just makes it look so easy, doesn’t he?

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider

The long-awaited origin story of Lara Croft has almost arrived, and she looks like she’s been put through the ringer. This blood-spattered, mud-covered recreation of Lara Croft is the centerpiece in a reinvention that hopes to bring a whole new generation of gamers to the franchise.

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite

The much-anticipated third installation in the BioShock franchise takes us out of the water and into the air with the City in the Sky, Columbia. With a decidedly steampunk feel and political overtones, this game looks beautiful and promises to deliver a heaping helping of story as well. We’re definitely looking forward to it.

Gears of War: Judgment

Gears of War: Judgment

Is there life after Cliff Bleszinski? Epic is attempting to answer this question with Gears of War: Judgment. This prequel story is centered on the fan-favorite character Damon Baird in the early parts of the war with the Locust. Also, we finally see how Emergence Day went down, and we get to slay plenty of the Locust horde in the process. Gimme my Lancer and let’s get to work.

God of War: Ascension

God of War: Ascension

Kratos has been the God of War for so long that I think we might have forgotten that he was once just a Spartan soldier with a family. Sony has seen fit to remind us of all the he has lost, and this live-action trailer illustrates it perfectly. Even though the trailer doesn’t show us this, an epic new multiplayer is on the way as well, which promises to be unlike anything else we have ever played.

The Last of Us

The Last of Us

Naughty Dog’s new baby has a lot of us salivating for every tidbit of info we can find. This astoundingly detailed post-apocalyptic world looks absolutely breathtaking in every way. With this foray into the mature rated realm, we should see a more graphic and visceral experience than anything Naughty Dog has ever done before.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V

What can I say? Grand Theft Auto is back, and Rockstar is delivering the most ambitious title they have ever created. With three playable character storylines and the largest open world map ever created for a console title, this should make for some truly epic gameplay. The trailer teases us with jets, helicopters, car chases, explosions, attack dogs, motorcycles, more explosions, curb stomping, and more. With over 16 million views on YouTube, this trailer definitely proves that GTA V is one of the most anticipated games of 2013.
