10 Best Battlefield 3 YouTube Videos

10 Best Battlefield 3 YouTube Videos

You can’t deny that the Battlefield franchise has established itself as one of the premier competitive FPS contenders in this generation. In celebration, we have trudged through the massive amount of fan-created YouTube content to find ten of the best Battlefield 3 videos on the net.

Don’t worry, Call of Duty fans, you’ll get your turn next week. Somebody had to go first and, honestly, I flipped a coin. Enjoy.

Base Jumping on Damavand Peak

Base Jumping on Damavand Peak

BF3’s multiplayer map Damavand Peak has one particularly interesting feature when played on rush mode: You get to base jump. In this video, players take full advantage of this and coordinate a 32-player base jump. I can’t imagine the headache that this must have been to put together. After all, it’s hard enough to get a squad of four to coordinate long enough to get anything done.

Oh, and they did a 64-player version of this later, but it wasn’t quite as good.

Elite Four

Elite Four

We’ve all been in a match where the enemy is making your life a living hell. No matter what you do, it’s just not enough to land you on the winning side, and you’re ready to toss your controller through the television. That’s when you know it’s time to call in reinforcements.

In the machinima “Elite Four” by Fierce Eagles, we see this play out, when after being called in by a buddy, a squad of four singlehandedly turns the tide of a match with one ticket left. Impossible, you say? Yeah, you’re probably right.

Viper Down!

Viper Down!

The dreaded Viper pilot. These elusive beasts can be a huge annoyance in BF3 multiplayer. Wreaking havoc on your kill-death ratio is their favorite thing to do, which makes taking them out all the more gratifying. The machinima “Viper Down!” created by Treetop Level illustrates this frustrating series of events on the Gulf of Oman map. After raining hell upon his victims, the pilot is forced to down his aircraft and a rescue ensues. They never stood a chance.

Air Supremacy

Air Supremacy

Have you ever been playing a match, fighting your heart out on the ground, when you looked up to see an epic dogfight going on? Of course you have. In a machinima titled “Air Superiority” by RocketSolution, we get to see what that would look like up close and personal. I’m not really sure how they pulled off some of the shots in this video, but I’m glad they did, because it looks great. It’s kind of like Top Gun without Tom Cruise, and I think we can all agree that’s a good thing.

Jet Swap (Zookin’)

RendeZook (or Zookin’): A very complex move in Battlefield games. Performed and mastered by YouTube user, Stun_gravy. – Urbandictionary.com

I’m not sure where the name came from, and I don’t really care. All I know is that I can’t do it and that makes me feel like less of a man. However, in this video, Stun_gravy makes it look easy. We salute you.

ONE

ONE

This is the guy you always want to be, the game saver, singlehandedly wrecking the other team’s dream of domination. In “ONE” by Robert Stoneman, we watch events on the Caspian Border as the battle unfolds via the ticket counter. The soldier depicted here loses his comrades and claims his vengeance by going Rambo on the other team, showing the rest of us just how good we will never be at this game.

Delta Snipers – Black Hawk Down

Delta Snipers – Black Hawk Down

It sounds stupid to have to say that, but some people don’t realize that video games don’t even come close to portraying the reality of warfare. Not to sound preachy—I love these games as much as the next player—but it is important to keep this in mind. This video by Machinima Respawn was made as an homage to the two famous snipers that gave their lives to protect those of their fellow comrades in the infamous “Black Hawk Down” incident. May they rest in peace.

Epic 1,000 Mines Explosion

Epic 1,000 Mines Explosion

Sometimes it’s just not enough to play an excellent shooter. Sometimes you have to take the environment and tools that are available and create an amazing explosion launching a vehicle halfway across the map. That is exactly what the team at Mongol put together with this video. How they didn’t just incinerate the Jeep with the chain of 1000 exploding mines is irrelevant, because it looks awesome.

There is a 2,000 mine version of this as well, but the camera is too far away for it to be as impressive.

Reaping

Reaping

There are a ton of “I’m the best Battlefield player in the world” videos out there, but very few of them are without incessant cursing. Cursing or not, though, this is one of the best out there. In this video—titled “Reaping,” by Lex—we see the creator laying waste to everyone. Not by normal means either; this guy is taking out helicopters with explosive arrows and blowing up tanks with pistols. In short, he’s a badass.

Moments

Moments

There are those times in Battlefield where you pull off the impossible. Whether a ridiculous rocket launcher hit or a thousand-yard headshot, these are the moments that make the game amazing. In the aptly named “Moments” by Robert Stoneman, we’re shown the absolutely astounding things that can happen in the Battlefield universe. The video has extremely high production value and strings together a set of epic events that rivals a Michael Bay movie. Inverted jets flying under small bridges, backwards ATV sand dune jump-kills, and Jeeps colliding with helicopters in midair are just a few of the things you’ll see in this video.
