Top 10 Game Inspired Replicas

Top 10 Game Inspired Replicas

Sometimes, as we play our favorite games, we wish we could have what our in-game counterparts already own. However, these amazing weapons and astonishing technologies are currently unavailable to the masses. So what can you do?

Well, you can do what these fine examples of gaming fandom did and make them yourself. Both professionals and non-professionals make these awe-inspiring replicas of fan-favorite weapons. A lot of the creations shown even have a how-to portion in the video, just in case you feel the need to replicate these replicas.

Mass Effect – Omni Blade

Mass Effect – Omni Blade

The Omni Blade/Tool has been an integral part of Commander Shepherd’s inventory since the first Mass Effect. However, it is only used as a weapon in Mass Effect 3. It’ glowing-orange futuristic look has always fit perfectly in the Mass Effect universe, and now it gets to fit into ours.

The replica of the device is made of plastic (which works surprisingly well) and has an articulable blade. Now if only they could add the lightning effects, then we’d be in business.

Portal – Portal Gun

Portal – Portal Gun

The portal gun has become an iconic weapon in this gaming generation. While this replica can’t produce actual portals, the creator shows you exactly how to make it. And it only costs $50.

Although the replica lacks some of the style of other items on this list, the Portal Gun costs very little money to make. Cheapness counts for a lot.

Gears of War – Lancer

Gears of War – Lancer

This fan-made lancer eschews replication in favor of interpreting the design of the iconic weapon. It is complete with glowing LED’s and a chainsaw. A working one! It is a toy chainsaw, though, so no kiddies are going to lose any limbs.

At the end of the video he demonstrates the capabilities of this modified NERF weapon with his son.

Halo – Assault Rifle

Halo – Assault Rifle

This Halo Assault Rifle Replica shames the herd of replicas that populate gaming culture by having a built-in ammo counter and a working clip. Some people might be impressed at the craftsmanship of such an assault rifle; they might even admire the care and attention that went into creating it. Not me. Give me an ammo counter and working sounds and I’m ready for some Flood killing.

Technically, this Assault Rifle may be more of a mod than a creation, which disqualifies it from this list, but I want it – so it stays.

Half-Life 2 – Gravity Gun

Half-Life 2 – Gravity Gun

Gordon Freeman gets his hands on no better weapon than the Gravity Gun. It makes your environment the weapon and turns the simplest of items into deadly projectiles.

The gun in this video looks a little heavy, but some tiny discomfort seems a small price to pay to manipulate gravity.

But shouldn’t a gravity gun be able to make itself lighter?

Fallout 3 – Pip-Boy 3000

Fallout 3 – Pip-Boy 3000

The Fallout series is regarded by many as the premiere FPS/RPG combo on the market. While this game has no shortage of incredible and interesting tech, nothing from the series is more notable than the Pip-Boy 3000. A wrist mounted device that is basically your in-game HUD, the Pip-Boy is a valuable tool, especially in the wastelands.

This replica is jaw-dropping. Even though the cast was purchased, the creator went to great lengths to ensure authenticity and function. I know they are just pictures on the screen, but this thing is incredible. I want one for Christmas.

Assassin’s Creed – Hidden Blade

Assassin’s Creed – Hidden Blade

There are quite a few attempts at the Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade out there, but this is the only one that nails it. Not only does it open accurately with the movement of your wrist, it retracts using that very same movement.

This Hidden Blade won’t be able to hide from me.

Kingdom Hearts – Sora’s Keyblade

Kingdom Hearts – Sora’s Keyblade

This stunning rendition of Sora’s Key Blade can actually be used in battle. As shown in the video, the sharpened teeth of this key can cause some serious damage. I would hate to find myself on the business end of it.

I don’t know if the good-natured Sora would know what to do with a deadlier version of his trademark weapon. Maybe he should just leave it for me.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Helm of Yngol

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Helm of Yngol

This beautifully crafted helm looks so authentic, not even the residents of Skyrim would call it a replica. The starting materials look absolutely nothing like the finished product. Such craftsmanship can’t be discounted. I want one.

Versus XIII – Noctis Engine Sword

Versus XIII – Noctis Engine Sword

Most of the best game-item replicas come from seasoned professionals accustomed to using tools. This creation, however, was made on this guy’s bed. He used foam, wood, and little else.

Obviously, it wouldn’t take much to destroy this flimsy replica, but making a sword using a real engine just isn’t very feasible, is it?
