7 Game-Inspired LEGO Sets We Need Now!

7 Game-Inspired LEGO Sets We Need Now!

Have you seen some of the sets that have been coming out of the LEGO Ideas program? (Formerly known as Lego Cuusoo, for those who’ve been following it for a while.) There’s a fantastic Ghostbusters set with the Ecto-1 and Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore. You can build a Tardis with the Eleventh Doctor, Twelfth Doctor, Clara, a Weeping Angel, and two Daleks. There’s even a Wall-E. Yet, something’s missing.

There aren’t many video game-inspired sets. The Minecraft Micro World released in 2012 kicked off the Lego Minecraft line, but we haven’t seen many other sets since then. Ones based on The Legend of Zelda made it to the review process, but were rejected due to needing too many original molds. We need more Lego video game inspired sets yesterday. To help you understand how real the need is, these are some of the best contenders that should be (or should have been) made into sets.

Pitfall!

Pitfall!

When it comes to games, you’ve got to honor the classics. Fgmg83 has a Pitfall! Adventure Set up for voting for another 226 days, and it’s rather cool. It’s unique in that it looks exactly like the original Atari 2600 game, while also allowing you to flip the set around to offer a different look at the “level.” Naturally, alligators, snakes, scorpions, and barrels abound! It’s a fantastic tribute and quite whimsical.

Sega Arcade Machines

Sega Arcade Machines

Here’s a project that’s got a shot! SpacySmoke has proposed a Sega Classic Arcade Machines set, and it’s got over 5,700 votes and over 350 days left to go! This would allow you to make miniature arcade machines based on Out Run , Space Harrier, and Thunder Blade. It would also include three minifigures, two Sega fans and Sega’s Yu Suzuki. It’d be super cool, would fit with existing Lego sets, and would honor some classic games.

Metroid

Metroid

Do you know how old Metroid turns this year? 30. Wouldn’t a Lego set be a great way to celebrate? Zurtech has proposed an anniversary set. It would let people build Samus’ Gunship, which would have a removable roof so you could stick the Samus figure inside. It also has a stand that looks like the logo for the ship to perch upon. Naturally, we’d get to build a little Metroid too. There are still over 100 days to make this one happen!

Myst

Myst

Lego sets that offer a view of an intricate environment are always classy. Which means the Myst project suggested by AllisonByProxy pulls double duty by being geeky and refined. It’s a recreation of the island on which Myst takes place, with all of the landmarks and monuments in place. It probably will be a lot easier to find those marker switches on this model than in the actual game! It’s still up for votes for about another 100 days.

Fez

Fez

Pixelated games lend themselves well to Lego projects. It’s really easy to recreate those sprites. One such project was suggested by 3rdFoundatio . Imagine owning a Fez model! It would have recreated Gomez’s village, the first place people find themselves in the game.  It was a three dimensional recreation of that starting town, and was completely accurate. It even was perched on transparent bricks, so it looked like it was floating. Even Gomez and the Villagers would come with it. Sadly, it didn’t get enough votes, so we’ll never see this set.

Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts

Know what’d be a great way to sate our appetite for Kingdom Hearts 3 ? A Lego Ideas set based on the original game. ToaRickBrick has a Guard Armor Encounter set up on the site, waiting for your votes. You can build the Guard Armor in its standard and reverse forms, accompanied by some lesser Heartless, and send a little Sora, Goofy, and Donald after them. There are even some Traverse Town trappings!

The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda

Listen, we need a The Legend of Zelda Lego set. This isn’t a debate. People submitting their creations to LEGO Ideas clearly agree, because there are tons of sets inspired by the game. ToaRickBrick ’s Great Deku Tree set would be perfect. We’d get a Link, as well as a Deku Scrub, Skulltula, and Gohma slugs to fight. Plus, we could arrange it so he’s trying to save the Great Deku Tree from the Queen Gohma. This project still has over 100 days left on Lego Ideas, so let’s try and vote it through!
