7 PS4 Games That NEED Cross-Play

7 PS4 Games That NEED Cross-Play

The walls have been broken down. Cross-play has come to the PlayStation 4. Fortnite is the first game to support the feature, letting people on the PlayStation 4 play with people on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices. But Fortnite is only the beginning. This is an opportunity. There are plenty of other games that could be more inclusive, and these seven could really also use cross-play.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the least likely candidate on this list. Mainly, because there is a PlayStation 4 exclusivity deal in effect that gives people access to DLC before the other versions. But if it could get cross-play, it would be absolutely epic and probably make this multiplayer-only installment one of the most memorable. Imagine how long the shelf-life would be.

Rocket League

Rocket League

Rocket League is one of the games-as-a-service titles that just keeps growing and succeeding. Psyonix is definitely open to cross-play, as it has been working on implementing an update that will allow Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC players to all play together. It only makes sense to talk with Sony and add the PlayStation 4 to that equation. Soccer with cars should be open to everyone!

Destiny 2

Destiny 2

Listen, let’s not fool ourselves. Destiny 2 is pretty much a MMO. So, let’s see Bungie and Activision embrace that. Let’s see cross-play in Destiny 2 that allows people to play together. These Guardians shouldn’t have to go it alone. An update that lets all players would together and challenge one another would be lovely. Even better would be cross-play and the ability to have cross-platform saves.

GTA Online

GTA Online

Hear me out. I know the PC versions of GTA Online can be problematic, due to cheats people might use. That’s unfortunate. But given how active this community still is, it would be amazing if cross-play could come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game. We should be able to gather together a crew for heists, regardless of platform.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to have Red Dead Online , an online component akin to GTA Online . Given that it will launch after the game, maybe Rockstar Games could work with Sony and Microsoft to see about possibly implementing cross-play there. Look at how long GTA Online has remained relevant. Red Dead Online will certainly see similar success, and could perhaps surpass it if cross-play was present.

Fallout 76

Fallout 76

Bethesda has been mostly saying no to cross-play in Fallout 76, but imagine how amazing it would be if there was cross-play in Fallout 76 . The Fallout games have incredible staying power, and people could create crews and play for years. Which would be a boon, when the wasteland got barren and people moved on to other games. Being able to rely on cross-platform would make it easier to guarantee a more populated wasteland.
