I know this seems like an odd place to start, but trust me. We're beginning here because this is a mistake I've made twice. See, there are two lines of furniture in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that can only be found by raiding Re-Tail or your local police station's lost and found. You can also try and drag it out of certain neighbors, such as Marshall, but there's no guarantee you'll get his sloppy items. Even though they're not particularly valuable, these pieces are so rare that you better hold onto them like a hoarder collects... well... everything!
