7 Star Wars Games So Good You’ll Smack a Wookie

7 Star Wars Games So Good You’ll Smack a Wookie

The future is bright for Star Wars. Star Wars: Battlefront II is finally in a good and playable state. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will be coming from Respawn soon and getting an official reveal. The Star Wars new movie is on the way too, with Episode IX debuting on December 20, 2019.

Simply put, there’s a lot ahead of us. But, what do people do while they wait? How do they get by? Well, fortunately for them, there are plenty of amazing older games out there, and these are the seven best Star Wars games that are also the most diverse.

Super Star Wars

Super Star Wars

While most people may think the best Star Wars games are more modern titles, Super Star Wars would prove them wrong. This is a title from back in the SNES era, where licensed games could actually be good and enjoyable. It’s not perfect, but it has some great character sprites, fun run-and-gun adventures with Luke, Han Solo, and Chewie, and even opportunities to ride in a landspeeder or X-Wing. Plus, the nostalgia factor of this 2-D game will really hit you in the feels.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Racing is a pretty big deal in the Star Wars universe. After all, podracing was a big deal in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Star Wars Episode I: Racer nailed it. This game, which borrowed quite a bit from F-Zero and Wipeout , made a big splash on the N64, Dreamcast, PC, and even Game Boy Color. Some games let up to eight people race, there were single player modes with lots of unlocking, and you had to be aware of the podracer’s integrity and heat when trying to make it to the finish line. It’s just so good.

Star Wars: TIE Fighter

Star Wars: TIE Fighter

With this Star Wars list, we’re attempting to inject a little variety into people’s lives and look at different genres that handle the property well. Star Wars: TIE Fighter is one of those games. This is a flight simulator set in outer space (probably in a galaxy far, far away). You are an Imperial pilot taking part in various missions after Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back . Your goal is to survive thirteen tours of duty in the service of the dark side, taking on various dog fighting and space faring missions in increasingly better ships. It’s great on PCs.

Star Wars: Empire at War

Star Wars: Empire at War

Battles are a big deal in Star Wars. I mean, “war” is in the title. With Star Wars: Empire at War , you get to control the movements and fights for multiple armies for each faction. It’s a great PC real-time strategy game, made even better by the freedom it afforded people. You can go through the Campaign, take part in shorter Skirmishes, or face off in Galactic Conquest to take over the galaxy as the Empire or Rebel Alliance. Best of all, the more recent PC release on Steam has multiplayer again and the ability to grab mods from the workshop.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is great for so many reasons. First, it really kicked off the whole Lego video game thing, showing how amazing these adaptations of popular properties could be. Second, it allowed people to have fun with Star Wars , since it isn’t afraid to be goofy or silly for the sake of a good time. Third, it was incredibly kid-friendly, something that is important for a series that has fans of all ages. A lot of other games aren’t so much. Finally, it offers great co-op experiences, so everyone can enjoy Star Wars ‘ story together.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

Star Wars Battlefront 2

You have to be specific when talking about Star Wars Battlefront 2 , since there are two. It’s the original one we’re saluting today. This PS2, PSP, Xbox, and PC game was an extraordinary shooter. It let people take on missions during the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War, allowing people access to different heroes, villains, maps, technology, and situations. It has great Rise of the Empire and Galactic Conquest modes. Its multiplayer is also fantastic, and in recent years it became backwards compatible on the Xbox One, was enhanced on the Xbox One X, and had multiplayer return on PCs.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

When people get into Star Wars, they may dream about what it would be like to be a Jedi. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic lets people do that on the Xbox, PC, and mobile devices. This is BioWare at its finest, giving people an original prequel with a character they can shape and world they can change. People even get to determine if they are going to turn toward the light or embrace the dark. It’s a striking game that sometimes has better decision-making than some modern titles.
