7 Call of Duty Games That Aren’t Old as Hell

7 Call of Duty Games That Aren’t Old as Hell

Call of Duty is a long and storied series. People have been heading off to wars, stepping into the shoes of soldiers, and taking up arms since the original installment arrived in 2003. Now, with the future drawing near, we have seen our first online-only entry with Black Ops 4 and have even heard rumors about the series heading to Vietnam . While we think about what the future could bring, let’s think back on some of the more recent installments that have kept the series exciting.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 dares to be different. Rather than include a campaign, it focuses entirely on its multiplayer offerings and tries to give people preset characters to follow. Its multiplayer and Zombies mode both offer different sorts of approaches that let people show off their skills, and it puts its own spin on the battle royale formula with Blackout. For people who really enjoy going online, this is the one to play.

Call of Duty: WWII

While Black Ops 4 focused on multiplayer, Call of Duty: WWII stood out for its campaign. This depiction of World War II, as seen through the eyes of the 1st Infantry Division as they experience heartaches and successes is incredibly moving. It also has a great Nazi Zombies campaign and a War multiplayer mode that focuses on telling stories. If people didn’t care for the online focus of the last entry, this one will deliver the kind of solo experience they need.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

While Infinite Warfare was a flop, there was a futuristic Call of Duty that was a rousing success. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare took people into 2054, gave them Exoskeletons with special abilities, and let them use specialized equipment that let people think about what future firefights could be like. This was also the installment that gave us weapon variants, a cooperative Exo Survival mode that let people work together, and of course a zombies mode.

Call of Duty: World at War

Call of Duty: World at War is notable for its new features and diversity. This World War II game showed up on the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and even the DS and Windows Mobile devices. We saw through the eyes of a Marine Raider, a Navy Petty Officer, and a Red Army soldier. It added zombies for the first time in the series. It added online co-op to the series. Plus, it started off the whole Black Ops storyline. It was a big deal.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops appeared, it took us into relatively uncharted territory: the Cold War. People got to go around the world in the campaign. People were following CIA agents, rather than the types of soldiers we had seen before. It really filled out the zombies storyline to make it richer and add some lore. Plus, its multiplayer options were just exceptionally solid for the time. Black Ops is one of the finest.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered cheating? The original was released in 2007. This updated version debuted in 2016 though, so it’s likely still good. This is the best version of one of the best Modern Warfare games. It sent people into the Middle East with Marines in its campaign. It updated the multiplayer with new modes like Gun Game and Prop Hunt and extra customization and loadout options. There are new cheats to make it even more goofy and fun. Naturally, it also looks better than ever before.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is incredible. It had great maps, fantastic loadouts, and shooting that felt pitch perfect and had the right amount of recoil. There was a campaign featuring five main characters and plenty of political intrigue and suspense. Its Spec Ops mode had 23 levels to take on alone or with friends. Multiplayer forced you to really work with or against groups to prove your supremacy. It is essentially the ideal Call of Duty game, and one can only hope it will get a remaster like the original Modern Warfare .
